NWHS offers food, clothing, showers, medical care, and case management to obtain housing or employment services to unsheltered members of our community at both our HOAP and HOST Programs near downtown Salem. Our aim is to ensure everyone we encounter is met with respect, compassion, and dignity.
Our city has a growing homeless population, exacerbated more recently by the wildfires and economic woes resulting from the pandemic. Seeing homelessness in our community, and sometimes in our own neighborhoods, can be overwhelming, uncomfortable, and at times challenging. The team at NWHS participates in ongoing discussions with local government, service providers, advocates, and neighborhood associations to ensure that we are part of the solution to this ever growing epidemic.
In order to help us in these efforts, it is important that our citizens share their experiences with homelessness in our community. It is equally important that our community members consider joining with agencies like NWHS to identify and advocate with our City and State for permanent solutions to homelessness.
