Connection

Northwest Human Services Connection Program
serves the needs of Oregon’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing population.
Connection staff possesses unique knowledge and
skills that are crucial to assisting this under-represented segment
of society.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals often cannot access general services because providers do not understand appropriate cultural and linguistic knowledge that are crucial in developing a trusting working relationship with this particular segment of society. This is why the Connection Program is so important to our community.
In addition to providing direct services to our clients, the Connection Program works to increase public awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing population through education, training, and research.
Connection services include:
- Individual, Group, and Family Counseling
- Substance and Alcohol Dependence Counseling
- Advocacy
- Case Management
- Information, Education, and Referrals
- Crisis Intervention
Connection accepts Oregon
Health Plan, some private insurance, and offers sliding scale fees
based on income and insurance needs. Connection
is also funded by the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) and the City of
Salem.
I had no idea what to expect when I
first came searching for help. People who take for granted that
they can hear the sounds of the world have no idea what it is
like to live in a world of silence. Even the basic living tasks
can become a challenge. Through Northwest Human Services Connection
Program I received the assistance and tools I needed to improve
the quality of my life. I can't thank you enough.
